1.      Rationale

Outcomes-based assessment in engineering and technology programmes started with implementation of accreditation standards set by NBA, where it is important that all pass outs have minimal standards of competence, are not just securing marks/grades, and rated on achievements in comparison to their colleagues. Outcome based assessment ensure that learning is directly congruent with learning outcomes at various levels. It consists of design of tools to both assess and enable learning in a consistent manner.

Under OBE  the use of outcomes-based teaching and assessment is becoming more common, but some time teachers and students both not clear with the difference between traditional and outcomes-based assessment. Outcomes-based assessment is helpful for seeing how your course contributes to student success in the program, or gives a clear indication of how well student learn specific pre-requisite knowledge and skills you are trying to teach them

The design and use of rubrics is an integral part of outcome-based assessment for qualitative assessment aligned to the three domains of learning especially for psychomotor or practical skills learning.

This programme is design with a view to develop insight about Outcome Based assessment and developing competence among technical Teachers to tools and strategies for OBA in day to day T-L environment

Being online mode of delivery and interaction, the  participants will be given opportunity to develop tools and attempt quiz and tasks  followed by presentation and discussion to develop insight about OBA.

ü  Appreciate the Outcome Based Assessment its methods 

ü  Apply basic principles  of  outcome Base  Assessment practices

ü  Respond to the challenges associated with outcomes assessment

ü  Design and use tools such as rubrics and strategies for improving Outcome based assessment practices
